Introducing...

Kia Ora and welcome to my website.

My mission is to share ideas and to have courageous conversations through art and media from a place of empathy and compassion for each other.

My name is Chanell Diaz. I am a writer and an artist based in Waiharakeke (Blenheim), Aotearoa (New Zealand).

It can be very easy to get caught up in drama and dismiss people we disagree with. Sometimes it can be a good thing to set boundaries but other times this can become toxic as we refuse to have these difficult conversions.

With this website, my blog, and my future podcast, I hope to break down these barriers and help people understand each other a little better. The goal is not to “change people's minds” but to help see each other's humanity.

Why Paper Cranes?

When I was 17 years old I spent a year on exchange in Japan. I fell in love with the place and the culture.

I especially loved to learn how to make origami paper cranes and still make them to this day.

Paper cranes are a huge inspiration for me creatively so I felt it fitted with what I wanted this website to be - a creative, thoughtful and peaceful place.
